The Skinny on the Ultimate Reset – Day 13

Phew! Today I was IN THE ZONE!! To say I’ve battled every negative thought and emotion every minute of every day is an understatement. I’ve tried to have temper tantrum’s over the food only to realize it’s a breeze and I actually constantly feel full. I’ve tried to say it’s too hard to shop, prep, plan when in reality I save more time by doing so. And probably to be honest a lot more money!

I keep giving myself that moment to just break and make nachos or pick up a pizza but then I realize the number of women counting on me and the number of times I’ve quit on myself — and there’s no way I’m giving up on one of those things this time!

I thought I would be a lot more emotional at this point of the 21 days just from what I had read so far from others who’s gone through it but honestly I have no complaints, worry, emotional break out or bad feelings to speak of.

I attribute that success to plenty of Epsom salt and essential oil detox baths, as well as, resting whenever I need to! Meaning sleeping whenever I feel like it and going to bed early! 2 things I NEVER allow myself to do regularly. I have been pushing so hard this year on my goals I wasn’t recognizing that it was a detriment to my physical and emotional well being. Definitely going to remind myself when I’m feeling worn down that I need to do things daily to feed my soul and take care of me.

Here’s the Skinny on Day 13:

I’m having tea every morning at his point because it’s cold as balls all of a sudden now and I can’t even handle the freezing temps I’m waking up to! I even pulled out my heating blanket for sitting on the couch!

Slight rebellion going on. I’m not super stoked on some upcoming recipes and this zero to no carbs (from rice and grain) thing is KILLING me. I use carbs to power up my creative energy and learning to source that Out has been HARD!! That being said I didn’t eat what was called for and instead modified this to show you that if you have grace & patience with yourself you are more likely to see this to the end rather than quit!!!!

I chose butternut squash in Italian herbs, steamed broccoli &carrots, and the teensiest scoop of rice imaginable just to soothe me and remind me that I CAN do this for 8 more days!!!!

SUNDAY IS THE HARDEST FREAKING DAY!! I want to drink Moscow Myles and eat nachos allllllll dayyyyyyyyy!!!

This is also about the time in my progress that I’m like “eh, feel great in my clothes, mostly okay naked. I can eat what I want now.” So wrong. So. Dead. Wrong. It’s a measure of self-sabotage and I can’t possibly keep up this cycle. Working through so many emotions this weekend figuring out WHY I want to feed my feelings with salt & fat. I have a lot of anxiety about family matters right now and while I’m not completely ready to share them I do want you to know if you’re struggling you are not alone.

Here’s the Skinny on Day 12:

Mediterranean roasted Beets; Coconut Collard Greens, and 1/4 cup toasted Millet

(Makes 1 serving) – picture > I doubled it for lunch tomorrow

3 cups medium Beets, cut into 1/2 inch cubes

1 1/2 tsp olive oil

1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley

1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Himalayan salt to taste (optional)

Herbal Seasoning (optional)

Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine beats with oil, salt, and seasoning in a medium bowl; mix well. Arrange beads in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until tender. Remove from oven. Cool for 30 minutes. Combine beats with parsley and lemon juice in a medium bowl; toss gently to blend. Serve warm or chilled.

Coconut Collard Greens

(Makes 1 serving)

1 1/2 tsp olive oil

1/4 medium onion, diced

1/2 bunch collard greens, stems removed, cut into 1/2 inch strips

1/4 cup coconut milk

Himalayan salt to taste (optional)

Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Add onion; cook stirring frequently, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown and very soft. Add collard greens and coconut milk; cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes, or until greens are very tender. Add salt if desired.

5 ways to fall in love with yourself

I love it when women love themselves. I love it when women are learning to love themselves. I love it when women inspire other women to love themselves.

My top 5 tips for how I learned to love myself.

1. Personal Development aka “self-help.”

I’ve always been a “self-help” junkie. Figuring out how past events have affected me in order to continue down a journey of emotional healing and huge personal growth.

Taking that step might help you realize it’s definitely hard, but it is very much worth it.

2. Make working out a priority and part of your routine.

Whether you’re already fit or you don’t really care too much about having a healthy lifestyle, working out seriously has so many benefits.

Personally, it motivates me to be productive, it helps clear my mind, and it reduces my stress levels.

Yes, it has been hard sometimes to keep active when there are days where I’m overcome with mommaxhaustion (mommas know what I’m talking about), but working out has become a part of me now. I feel weird when I don’t do it and when I finally do it and I experience the benefits I question why I didn’t just push through.

3. Disconnect.

I cannot stress this one enough. Honestly, I crave doing this more than I get the chance to. When I disconnect, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated. There’s something about putting my phone away in my bedroom and coming down into the kitchen to bake with the kids, sit in front of the fire and read, spend time writing or drawing, watching a movie — anything other than waiting for text dings or opening my social media accounts every five minutes.

4. Spend time doing things you love.

I started a blog years ago but didn’t really know my immediate idea for it. As I’ve been doing this 21 day detox it has been super liberating and kinda fulfilling to get lost in my feelings and just type them all out in my blog. Try to do whatever it is you like to do. Writing, singing, painting, running, anything. Even if you’ve never tried it before, do it and see where it takes you.

5. Be honest about what you think and feel.

I think if you’re like me you get caught up in caring so much about what other people think that you deny yourself so that you can keep them “happy.” This isn’t helping anyone I promise. At first, you’ll likely upset some and it will be hard to keep your courage, but in the end, you will gain respect and be surrounded by those you truly enjoy being around and you will live a way less stressful life.

You are such a beautiful, amazing, and capable person no matter how different your life may look from the picture the world has shown you.

I challenge you today to forget about looking like X person or trying to do X things because that’s what this person does. Whether you choose some of the things from my list or you take the time to come up with your own, love yourself by doing things that are good for you and make you happy.

Love yourself and love yourself hard. ❤

The Skinny on the Ultimate Reset – Day 11

I am over half way through the Ultimate Reset!!!!!!

You won’t believe something I’ve decided since about day 7…..drinking coffee MIGHT be a thing of the past for me!!??!! I know. I’m like significantly known for being everything coffee. But once I got over my withdrawals I realized how much I naturally feel better without it!?!?

Aside from green tea or my unicorn blood — I am also going to stay away from anything caffeinated at this point.  Ive fallen in love with Teeccino though!!

I’ve also resolved for the next 6 months I’m going to plan out in FULL DETAIL & PREP allllll of my meals eating at least 3-5 vegan meals each week.

You never think it’s possible but ITS TOTALLY POSSIBLE for you too!! The first 5 days were hairy I won’t lie.  Not because of what I could or could not eat, but the feelings associated to not eating my emotions, the actual aches from detoxing, lack of energy while my body was releasing years of toxins and the pains of change.

Overall the food is good minus a few choices like seaweed, tempeh, and mashed garbanzo beans….I am full and not hungry throughout most of the day (as long as I go to bed between 9-10 when I start dreaming about what’s in he kitchen I could nibble.)

So Day 11 was the first day I was tip top shape for the entire day!  Feeling full of energy and life, clear thinking and patient!

My breakfast is pretty much the same for the next 2 weeks! They give you other options such as Miso soup, avocado and mashed chick peas but like I said….. not my ideal breakfast! Fresh fruit will do me just fine!!!  I am in a routine of making myself one and the boys love it too! I read today that fruit in the morning is cleansing and easy to digest for the body!

Tomorrow I need to get to the store for distilled water and more fruit.

Here’s the Skinny on Day  11:

I don’t know that it’s allowed but I usually end up combining whatever mix of food combos they have set up. For instance today was cucumber tomato salad, 1 cup quinoa, and 1/4 avocado…so I just mixed it all in. It looks messy but tasted really great! Instead of the dressing listed (that was mostly the same ingredients as the greek dressing — I just used what I already had made of that) but here’s the recipe:

(Makes 1 Serving)

2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar

1 tsp. balsamic vinegar

1 Tbsp. lemon juice

2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1 medium cucumber, partially peeled, cut lengthwise then sliced

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 Tbsp. red onion, chopped

2 Tbsp fresh herbs (I used parsley & basil), chopped

Himalayan salt to taste (optional)

Herbal seasoning (optional)

Combine red wine & balsamic vinegars, lemon juice, and oil in a small bowl, mix well. Set aside. Combine cucumber, tomatoes, onion, parsley, basil, salt, and seasoning in a large bowl, mix well. Drizzle dressing over cucumber mixture; toss gently.

Hearty Miso Soup

Hearty Vegetable Miso Soup

makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

• 1 t. extra virgin olive oil or safflower oil

• 2 T. finely chopped yellow onion

• 1 t. finely chopped garlic

• 1 small carrot, cut in thin diagonal slices

• 1 small celery stalk, cut in thin diagonal slices

• ½ t. peeled and finely grated ginger (I omitted – I hate ginger like a lot)

• 2 C. water

• ¼ C. broccoli florets

• 2 T. chopped fresh green beans (I only had asparagus)

• ¼ C. shredded Napa cabbage or bok choy

• 1 T. wakame seaweed (optional…It makes me hate life so I don’t add this either haha)

• ¼ t. sesame oil

• 1 T. sliced green onion

• 1 T. miso paste mixed with 2 T. hot water (also optional)

Directions:

1. Heat EVOO in soup pot on medium heat.

2. Add onion, garlic, ginger, carrot, and celery and saute for 5 minutes.

3. Add water and simmer on low for 20 minutes until veggies are tender.

4. Add broccoli, beans, cabbage, and seaweed.

5. Stir and simmer until tender but not overcooked; broccoli and beans should remain crisp.

6. Remove from heat and add sesame oil, green onion, and miso mixture.

1/4 cup quinoa & lemon greens (greens sautéed in extra virgin olive oil & squeeze of lemon)

Finished off the night with chocolate Teeccino in place of coffee or a cheat and I have to say it makes giving up coffee for good a breeze!!

Dude, I’m so ready to be laser beam focused on my goals to lean out before my 2 rounds of 21 Day Fix Extreme  in prep for 80 Day Obsession!!!!

I was struggling a little so I had a bowl of pears and blueberries for “dessert”..normally the family makes cookies, s’mores, popcorn, brownies, or something on our Friday movie night and I will say that even though they enjoyed cookies and tater tot nachos I made I through with the fruit and this no caf teeccino! The Skinny on the Ultimate Reset – Day 8

In any given moment we have ✌🏼options.

1. We can take a step forward into growth

2. Retreat and step back into safety.

Gut reaction is to to resist. Change is uncomfortaballs!!! You can try to play cool and like you have it together but inside you’re in a constant state of QUIT & RUN!! Grasping at straws to keep it all together or to blow it all off.

My journey has been FILLED with blowing it off. I could list a laundry list of reasons and place blame! 3 pregnancies and getting older for my weight gain… bad genetics or our lack of money just to name a few.

Instead I refused to give up and started taking matters into my own hands. 💯💯

Everyday I whether I SLAY THE DAY OR FAIL FORWARD I know I’m doing what I can to be the best version of ME!

As much as we don’t like to switch things up! Sometimes it is what is best for us!!

Over the past 4 years I have:

1. Done Insanity, P90X3, Turbofire, T25, PiYo, Insanity Max30, 21 Day Fix and fix Extreme, Country Heat, Hammer && Chisel, Core de force, 22 Minute Hard Corps, Shift Shop.

2. I have eaten clean, followed portion fix, followed countdown to competition, 3 Day Refresh, and TREAT YO’SELF😭😂. ⁉️ Each program taught me something I didn’t know about myself and helped me level up to the next phase of my fitness. Whether it was leaning out, building muscle, overcoming eating disorders, pushing through breaking points, or just learning to create consistency.

During this process what has always remained the same is– food is fuel– create a lifestyle — take care of yourself!! Which brings on the BIGGEST NUTRITIONAL CHALLENGE YET!! 21 days of TIMED && PRECISE meals, nutrition and detox supplements, and yoga.

I have never been more ready for this program. Everything that I have done with Beachbody has helped me grow into the girl that could commit to something like this and already 7 days in I am so much better for it!!

1/3 C pumpkin seeds

Basic Vinaigrette

‎1/2 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/4 Cup Red Wine Vinegar

1 tsp salt Himalayan Salt

1 tsp raw honey

2 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice

2 tsp chopped fresh herbs (I used basil & parsley)

I felt REALLY hungry all day yesterday and mostly won the battle. I licked a tortilla chip while Madi made a pile of nachos and I chewed a bite of freaking delicious lasagna then spit it out 😭😂
